Why do business funding deals get declined?

Most declines trace to a small set of causes: insufficient deposit volume, excessive negative days or NSFs, too many existing positions, recent tax liens or judgments, restricted industries, or incomplete documentation. Several of these are correctable with timing and repackaging rather than a hard no.

The recurring causes

Review the file against these before submission.

  • Average daily balance too low for the requested amount
  • More than a handful of negative days in the trailing period
  • Stacked positions the owner did not disclose
  • Industry restrictions at the specific funder
  • Ownership or entity mismatches across documents

Turning a decline into an approval

A decline at one source is not a decline everywhere. Repositioning the amount, term, or structure frequently changes the outcome inside a broad network.
