What makes a strong business funding file?

A strong funding file includes a completed application, the most recent three to six months of business bank statements, a clear use of proceeds, an explanation of any negative days or existing positions, and accurate ownership and contact information. Files submitted complete are reviewed and answered materially faster than files that require follow-up.

Start with a complete document set

Underwriters price uncertainty. Every missing item extends the review and increases the chance the file is set aside for a cleaner submission.

  • Signed application with accurate ownership percentages
  • Three to six months of complete business bank statements (all pages)
  • Voided check or bank verification
  • Driver's license and, where relevant, a copy of the lease

Write a two-paragraph deal narrative

Explain what the business does, why it needs capital now, and how the capital will be repaid. Address weaknesses directly rather than letting an underwriter discover them.

Set expectations before you submit

Tell the business owner what will be reviewed and how long it takes. Confidence at submission prevents renegotiation later.

Put this to work on a live file

Submit your deal and we'll review it personally—typically answered within one business day.
